What Do I Enjoy Doing Most in My Free Time

Free time is all about the little joys—music, family moments, shows, and writing. It's not about doing more; it's about enjoying what makes you happy.

Free time, honestly, feels like a rare luxury these days. Between work, family, and life throwing its usual curveballs, those few moments of “me time” feel like gold dust. And when I do get some of it, I don’t believe in letting it slip by. It’s my chance to recharge, enjoy, and sometimes, just be. Spending free time wisely is an art.

Here’s what I love doing in those small windows of freedom during my free time.

Getting Lost in Music

Music is my best friend when I need to switch off during my rare moments of free time. A good playlist can do wonders for my mood. Some days, it’s LinkinPark making me nostalgic, and other days, it’s Sean Paul with beats that could make even the laziest person want to groove.

The funny part is, I’ve convinced myself that I have a great singing voice (not up for debate). While the world may disagree, Anika, my little girl, doesn’t complain. She listens to me with wide eyes, and that’s all the audience I need right now.

Watching Shows (and Overthinking Them)

There’s nothing like a good show or movie to help you unwind in free time. I love diving into sci-fi, thrillers, or even a solid mystery. Shows like Sweet Home keep me hooked, though I sometimes pause and think, "Why is this character acting like this?"

Rajashree often joins in, and we make a game of predicting what happens next. Nine times out of ten, she’s right, and I’m left wondering why I even bother guessing.

Family Time That Feels Like Quality Time

Honestly, nothing beats time with family. Watching Anika discover new things during my free time is like a masterclass in appreciating the little joys of life. Recently, she turned over onto her tummy for the first time. The pride on her tiny face was unforgettable—it felt like she’d just conquered the world.

These moments are special, and I try not to take them for granted. They remind me why slowing down once in a while is so important.

Writing Down My Thoughts

Writing is like therapy for me. It’s one of those things where you start with a blank page and end up surprising yourself. Sometimes it’s a blog post (like this one), other times it’s just me putting my thoughts in words. It’s a productive way to spend some free time.

It doesn’t have to be perfect—just honest. And there’s a certain joy in looking back at old notes and seeing how far I’ve come, or how silly my past worries were.

Wrapping Up

Free time, to me, is all about the little things that make you happy—whether it’s humming along to your favorite song, laughing with family, or just enjoying a quiet moment with your thoughts. It doesn’t have to be grand or planned; it just has to feel good.

What about you? How do you spend your free time? Let me know—I’m always curious to hear what keeps others smiling.
