The One Question I Hate to be Asked

One question I really don’t like is: “Where do you see yourself in five years?”

It sounds simple, but it feels like a trap. If you give an ambitious answer, it will sound unrealistic. If you play it safe, it seems like you lack vision. And let's be honest, life is unpredictable. Five years ago, I wouldn't have imagined being exactly where I am today, both personally and professionally. Priorities shift, new opportunities come up, and sometimes, what we thought we wanted changes completely.

Instead of mapping out a rigid five-year plan, I prefer focusing on continuous growth. I believe that a flexible approach allows me to adapt to the ever-changing landscape of life. By remaining open to new ideas and experiences, I set myself up for unexpected but rewarding paths. I focus on learning new things. I improve my skills through courses, workshops, or by engaging in discussions with others who inspire me. Each step towards self-improvement not only enhances my abilities but also broadens my perspective.

I also make smart decisions that open doors, strategically weighing the pros and cons of each opportunity. By doing so, I make sure that my choices align with my core values and long-term goals. This deliberate approach allows me to capitalize on unforeseen chances that arise in my journey. That way, no matter where I end up, I know I’m progressing in the right direction. Embracing uncertainty is important. Cultivating resilience becomes central in my life. This mindset allows me to navigate challenges with confidence and optimism. Ultimately, it's about crafting a fulfilling journey rather than adhering to a strict destination.

What about you? Any question you absolutely hate being asked?
