So, What IS Marketing?

Let’s explore it from a few different angles:

  • The American Marketing Association (AMA): They define marketing as “the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large.” In other words, it’s not just about selling – it’s about offering solutions that benefit everyone.
  • Investopedia: Focused on business, they define marketing as “activities a company undertakes to promote the buying or selling of a product or service…including advertising, selling, and delivering products….”. This reminds us that marketing is essential for driving sales and achieving business goals.
